Meet My Hometown Hub's Founders

Mr. Daniel Parker

Daniel has always cared about education, educational policy, tutoring, and mentorship. After finishing his undergraduate degree at the University of Hawaii, Daniel became aware of the vast literacy problems affecting more than 1 in 6 Hawaii residents. As a result, Daniel started tutoring adults in the Honolulu community before returning to Chicago with his wife.Daniel noticed all of Hawaii's obvious inequities and the unmistakable opportunity and achievement gaps, which spurred his interest in education and community-based initiatives to help solve real problems. After a brief stint working at Misericordia, Daniel started working at OPRFHS, where he thought about following in his father's footsteps and becoming a special education teacher. While working at the high school, he attained two master's degrees: an MS from Northwestern University and an MBA from Western Governs University.

Mr. Richard Short

Richard has a long history of community involvement and outreach. He helped create another very successful nonprofit organization that supports people with different abilities as they live, work, learn, grow, and connect with others in their community. The nonprofit program Richard helped create has been very successful and continues to thrive in the Oak Park and River Forest communities.Additionally, Richard was an executive leader at Hephzibah, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help children with psychological, emotional, physical, and academic needs thrive through community-based programs.Richard has dedicated his life to education, coaching, and helping others.

Together, Daniel and Richard are focused on creating My Hometown Hub. A HUB for the Chicagoland communities.
